Re: Morning Dew Shoreline 2011-06-03

Hey y'all. Welll, if we're talking about all time best MDews...I'd have to say the best I ever saw were:

1. March 23, 1973 (Cow Palace SF -- The "Wall of Sound" Sound Test) Like the recent June 3, 2011 show, it was a Morning Dew sandwiched into a PITB>UJB>MD>UJB>PITB pyramid (there was laos a great one in the same pyramid on November 10, 1973 at Winterland a few months earlier)

AND

2. (maybe my alltime favorite) Ocotber 1, 1974 (Friday night) Winterland, San Francisco (the 3rd night of the five night run before the long layoff that followed and at which the GD Movie was filmed (I'm ini it!)). At all those shows, the two "normal sets" were accentuated by an intermediate set of Phil playing with Ned Lagin (see "Seastones" (which we used to call "Dinosaur Music")) Well on Friday night of that run of shows, the Phil and Ned Seastones segment was expanded when after about 15 minutes of Phil n' Ned, first Garcia and then, one by one, the rest of the band walked on and plugged in, and their lengthy space jam finally resolved in a Dark Star (only one verse sung though) which then finally morphed into an anthemic Morning Dew that just crackled with energy.

correction

the date of the Winterland show I just referenced was October 10, 1974, not October 1.

I noted how lovely the Dew was at Shoreline at the time. It reminded me of my personal favorite Dew, SPAC June 18, 1983.

Yes indeed JK does an amazing job there with Jerry watching. I went to both shows Lots of rainy fun!
Can not wait for Las Vegas in my town Vegas! Phil seems to like the sound onstage at the Hard Rock.

As soon as the Maykers announce the specifics, including I believe a special room rate offer for Furthur fans, Im gonna book my room. If I remember correctly they played a pre and post show which means definitely enough time for a Forum meet up!

I cannot stop listening to Morning Dew from the Shoreline show on the 3rd! Being one of my all time favorite Dead tunes, I am starting to come to a realization that this might be on of the best post Jerry versions out there. Just curious if Im alone with this and If so I'd love to hear some of your suggestions for a kick ass Dew. I almost don't want to admit it but I started bawling like a lil school girl in the middle of the song (First time that ever happened, kinda freaked me out, dunno when the last time I cried was but damn if it didn't feel like a millioin bux) and by the end I was jumping up and down hoarsley screaming an hootin in JK's direction

ATL FOX THEATER 2011 was pretty good
