So... I'm just going to throw this out... With three nights down, is it possible we're looking at the single best run so far of Furthur's career?

This is a complicated topic as presence at the show probably makes the biggest difference. For me, the best single run of Furthur's career was the initial run of 3 shows at the Fox Theatre. The excitement created there has evolved into this whole new reincarnation of the Grateful Dead phenomena. Feeling the initial energy in Oakland, and experiencing a rebirth of a band, I must admit that the laying of the foundation at these 3 shows made it the best run of Furthur's career for me.

After many shows it all blends together to some degree, but I could probably go with this. These have been very strong shows. I would say that at the very least, I don't think I've seen JK play better...

I think last night was a tier above everything I've heard as far as Furthur goes. Closest to perfect I've seen em.

Interesting point, Bill. On those terms, the Fox run would certainly be more significant.

As for Sweetwater, though, I think we're looking at -- what? -- a kind of perfect storm. A comfortable local environment, absolute intimacy, and a band that's now fully integrated and road-tested. It doesn't get much better than this.

I guess we could say that the band has been road-tested, is finely-tuning, running on all cylinders, and purring like a kitten.
