Here we go on another adventure in Coney Island! Yesterday was great, and tonight should be as well. In the meantime, I bet the folks there are having a great time at the park or on the water. I'll take the rides and some cotton candy please, perhaps with a side of Shakedown?!

Happy Birthday 100th Woody Guthrie who lived for many years in Coney Island! Today we are celebrating Woody with events at Coney Island USA and a FREE screening of Bound for Glory on the beach at 8pm, with special guests Steve Earle, Billy Bragg, and Nora Guthrie!

In 2008, Woody Guthrie was honored at the Coney Island Hall of Fame ceremony at the Coney Island History Project along with an exhibit "Woody Guthrie's Coney Island Years." He lived on Mermaid Avenue from 1943-1952 and one of his songs pays tribute to it. Perhaps we'll hear it tonight!
