Was this the last song of the second set that night? Do you know where any of the setlist are?

The first night they ended the first set with it, then the second night it was the show closer. The first night version (this one above) was over all better, but the second night version the singer missed a big chunk of the song and didn't take Johns cues and they ended up siging different parts over top of each other for a few lines in a stalemate John let him win. So when it came time for the solo John really poured it on. I hope that the second nights rider gets posted because that fiddle work was smoking.

Set Lists I was in hope that I could find, but have not yet, check FB to see. I know they had printed list because the lead singer keep peaking at it. It also seemed like a tight group of friends there so someone has it.

*disclaimer, in no way trying to knock the lead singer even though I was hopeing to hear John sign more the guy had a remarkable voice and his energy was great.

Yes, this band is "Hair Ball Willie" a band he played in in CHI before Uncle Johns Band and DSO. I think the bass player told me it had been like 15+ years since they played together.

Go to www.hairballwillie.com/ and check it out.

From a Dead.net interview last year

What was the band you were in called Hairball Willie?
That was a band I joined in 1991. Their guitar player was leaving, moving out of the area and getting an advanced degree somewhere and they wanted to keep going, so I went to their audition and they hired me on the spot. They had a demo of original stuff they had, and they were also doing what they called a “Dead Zeppelin” style—a heavy power trio sound with a frontman-singer. I pitched for them to add a second guitar player, who I had played a bunch with in a band called Pogo Web, which was the first band I played any significant amount of Grateful Dead with. Hairball Willie was the first band I recorded a full-length CD with, which I actually produced and co-engineered, called Just Defying Gravity, and it got a nice review in Relix in '92 or '93.
