Yeah, what are the parameters? Hendrix was a hippie; Pink Floyd? were they hippies? Hmmmmm...

Props to Dire Wolf for the Ozric mention, fer sure!

R.E.M. was my GD before I really got turned on.
Been on a Kraftwerk kick lately, & generally get a New Order/Joy Division fix on a weekly basis.
Coletrane was a hippie before hippies, I'll always love him.

Less into artists these days than genres, dig. Groovin' on mad downtempo/ambient/psytrance interspersed with random dub reggae lately. And I play kirtan recordings a lot as well, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, et al.

I keep getting a little concerned I'm gonna burn out on Furthur cuz it's all I wanna listen to anymore, but so far, does not seem likely

I have to add the Classic Van Halen to this post. Saw them last week and it was 1982 all over again. Eddie was and is the last great innovator on the 6 string. They were absolutely awesome

To be fair the Grateful Dead weren't Hippies they were "Freaks". They said as much and most heads agree.
