I'm assuming Pink Floyd, the Beatles and the Band are consdered hippy bands / musicians.

Re: Non-Hippy Music,
I have a sweet spot for Billy Joel, Elton John and ELO (Electric Light Orchestra). But that's really just scratching the surface.

Kind of strange waking up one day and your favorite tunes are on the Oldies Station.

Edit: I should add George Thorogood (sp) / Rock-A-Billy. And I have to add Lynyrd Skynyrd if that isn't hippy music.

Too many to name. The more music I listen to the more music I like. It's a vicious cycle. But the most recognizable right now are probably:
Tool
Kyuss
Ozric Tentacles
Faith No More
Buckethead
Godspeed You Black Emperor

Good thread. Non-hippie so I can't mention Willie Nelson. So,

Led Zeppelin
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Bob Dylan
The Band (and the Yardbirds)
The Replacements
Mississippi John Hurt
And some girls...Fiona Apple and Amy Winehouse
...was staring at the little blotch of sunshine with a special intensity, considering lying down in it.

If a hippie goes to see a band and likes it, does that mean it is no longer a non-hippie band?

I'll just add in a few bands that I think might qualify , in no particular order:
California Guitar Trio, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Galactic, Sly & the Family Stone, Bonnie Raitt, CAKE, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Steel Pulse, Johnny A, B-52s. Psychedelic Furs, Little Feat, King Crimson,

Okay this could go on and on and on.................
