Lately, Tommy Emmanuel....got to do a meet & greet at a recent performance in my hometown. The guy is not only an amazing musician, whose playing will make your jaw drop, but a quality Human Being trying to make the world a better place by getting people high on music.
Don't ever miss a chance to see him & if you do get to a show, go to his website beforhand & sign up for the Meet & Greet.
......While the Music Plays the Band.....

I gotta' wake up in the morning, just to say goodnight to you. Brilliant.

There's so many......Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, the Yardbirds, the Stones, Buffalo Springfield, the Byrds, Led Zeppelin, Cream, Beatles, Frank Zappa/Mothers of Invention, Captain Beefheart, Flying Burrito Brothers, the Clash, Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell, Otis Redding, Janis, Depeche Mode, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, PJ Harvey

but probably number one after the Dead would be the Who

kind of a pointless question without some set boundaries. I don't know what a hippie is, or a hippie is not, in the context of this question.

You aren't interesting or clever when you write or speak in the lyrics of others. Rather, what are YOUR words?

Put me down for Pearl Jam then
or
Some old Woodie Guthrie or Bob Seager or Elton John.

To recommend someone check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glen_Hansard
He played a Midnight Ramble on Feb 12 @ Levon Helm's, I saw him open for Eddie Vedder last summer and he was really good.
Very talented former street musician for Ireland read his story.

Very hard to think of any single band or artist that has affected me at the level the Grateful Dead has.
I've always loved the classics. Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Bob
Dylan, Moody Blues, and Led Zeppelin. Amongst others. the 60's and 70' were my favorite era, but I
love classical, and jazz too. Blues, R&B, even some metal. If it's played well, and with spirit, I like it.
I can't come down, it's plain to see.
I can't come down, I've been set free.
Who you are, and what you do,
don't make no difference to me.
