I can't come down, it's plain to see.
I can't come down, I've been set free.
Who you are, and what you do,
don't make no difference to me.

Well, I don't know about set breaks, but it was played during the 2nd set at this show.

Track 15. About 26 min long. Really trippy stuff.

Maybe 50% of my listening is music concrete, noise, electronic (not techno or what it is known as today), industrial (again, not what it is known as today), and experimental music in a general sense. Phil's background in electronic ( serial ) music is very likely what gives him such a unique perspective and the listening skills to weave around other players and to create alternate signatures and passages. Experimental music is all about the minutia and details. It's non-linear (usually).

I GREATLY respect Phil for having the audacity to expose the GD audience to this kind of music, but honestly, it wasn't of very high quality when considering all the incredibly great electronic music from the 60s and 70s. 74-08-06 is my favorite Seastones set. Maybe no matter how good it was, the GD audience was never going to bite into it. I'm not sure. It's always surprised me with how experimental (Feedback, Seastones, space, drums) this band was at almost all times that the audience wasn't more open to the other great improvisational and "free" musics out there. Free jazz, krautrock (some of the most beautiful free-form, cosmic rock ever created), experimental music, the early workings of industrial music (NOT Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Rob Zombie, and the other bastardized corporate definition of the genre), and a few other expansive styles of music. I feel the GD fits well within the history and lineage of these other sounds, as well as the other sounds fitting in with the GD approach to things. Yet, "krautrock? Never heard of it." is the common response. It's incredible stuff, and I'd love to turn folks onto it.

Phil & Ned, aka Seastones, was often called "set 1.5". They also release one official album together.

Similar ambient music from Brian Eno is still available. Wish Lagin's "Sea Stones" album were available as a SACD surround disc since it was originally a quad recording, but thanks for the youtube link of it. Even a stereo CD of it would be nice when in the mood for this type of ambient music.

Dicks Pick's Vol. 12 contains track number 12 (4:52) "Sea Stones Live"
