NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have announced their departure from the group.

The two have released a joint statement: "In a mutual decision Jeff Loomis and Van Williams have decided to leave Nevermore. The time has come to pursue our own paths from the group. Due to internal struggles and ongoing issues within the band, we feel it is our time to move on. We would like to thank all of our fans around the world for their years of love, support and enthusiasm. This was not an easy decision but a very necessary one at this point, may we all meet again someday, somewhere in time."

Loomis and Williams had been with Nevermore since the band's first album, 1995's self titled, Nevermore.

Nevermore recently announced that they would be cancelling their planned tour with SYMPHONY X. No information regarding additional confirmed tour dates is known at this time.

I hate this as much as K.K. leaving Priest !
I hope Warrel Dane starts Sanctuary back up or something.

That's sad news about Judas Priest.
I can't come down, it's plain to see.
I can't come down, I've been set free.
Who you are, and what you do,
don't make no difference to me.

I like. But, my tastes are more the "hair metal" - Motley Crue, Poison, Metallica, Anthrax, Ozzy, Whitesnake, Helloween, Megadeth, Black Sabbath...

Loved it as a kid - Iron Maiden (Number of the Beast Tour) opening up for Judas Priest (Screaming for Vengance Tour) at the Glens Falls Civic center in Fall 1983 is still to this day one of my all time greatest shows ever! Got away from it due to the influence of Jerry and the boys in addition to that 80's transition to hairbands wearing makeup (aka Motley Crue, Poison, etc.) but found myself returning to it in appreciation in my 30's. I finally saw Metallica this past fall and was blown away. I even enjoy Motley Crue and Poison shows these days when I'm doing the stagehand thing at SPAC in the summer. When Nikki Sixx walks by I am always thinking - there's Rock n Roll - How many people have you heard of that OD on heroin, are discovered with the needle hanging out of the arm, go to the emergency room, come around enough to rip the IV out of the arm, return home, and shoot up again? Don't want to glorify that but shit that is hardcore.

^^^^^^^^^^I saw the Priest/Maiden show at Richfield in Sept. 82 , good times !^^^^^^^^^^^

I quit listening to Metal for years because I got so deeply immersed in the Dead as well , Also because by the time I was about 26 or so I got sick of being the oldest guy in the room at shows
It's fun now looking back at those times and laughing about how seriously we all viewed the music and the divisions between audiences ( you don't like metal !? poser !! )
