Re: OK , who likes Metal ?#11541 2 years, 7 months agoWhen it comes to rock n roll I am a tradtionalist, and have fairly conservative Metal tastes. Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, Mountain, Hot Tuna, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa (is he considered metal?), Rainbow, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull (are they metal?) I was a teenager in the mid 1970's, and my boyfriend was really into Heavy Metal (hey, remember that movie? we always got the magazine) so I saw Black Sabbath, BOC, Rush, Queen, and some others I can't remember. The best was UFO at the Palladium with AC/DC as the opener in 1978. I thought AC/DC sucked. Needless to say we didn't last more than a couple of years together. We saw Black Sabbath and BOC on the Black and Blue tour at the Garden, and it was quite something to see tens of thousands of metal heads pouring into Penn Station off the subway, PATH, LIRR, Connecticut & Massachusetts lines to catch the show. It was pretty impressive, all that black leather and studs. I thougt, boy, there's a lot of us...

King Crimson, TOOL, NIN, Perfect Circle, Mars Volta, Primus.none of these bands are metal.
EDIT: reading through the rest of the thread, I didn't realize what is, and what is not, metal was so confusing to folk. Sort of strange. You aren't interesting or clever when you write or speak in the lyrics of others. Rather, what are YOUR words?

Posted on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 07:23:48 EST
British metal gods JUDAS PRIEST have announced that original guitarist K.K. Downing has formally retired from the band and will therefore not be joining them on their forthcoming Epitaph Tour. The band respect his decision and naturally all wish him well. Having thought long and hard about how to proceed, singer Rob Halford, guitarist Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis unanimously agreed that they should go ahead with the tour and not let fans around the world down.
Fate also stepped in and delivered the perfect replacement - 31 year-old British guitar player Richie Faulkner ( DIRTY DEEDS, VOODOO SIX, LAUREN HARRIS) - he has blended into the band perfectly and is a great talent who is going to set the stage on fire, according to a press release.
The Epitaph Tour will include songs from every Priest studio album and also tracks that they have never before performed on stage plus all the old favourites.
With a new album due to be released next year, the 'metal gods' are preparing to tour the planet once more. Heavy metal at it's best complete with lasers, lights, bikes and hellfire! It's a show not too be missed!
