DOWNLOADING HELP

#35314 3 years, 3 months ago
When I buy shows from live downloads, I can get them onto my MP3 player (via Windows Media Player). But how do I get free music from Archive.Org to downloaded to Windows Media Player?????

You can't download everything from Archive. The SBD's are restricted to streamimng only. There are quite a few shows you
can download if you'd like. Once you've selected a show, you'll see a window on the left side, that says play/download. Under
that, you'll see 3 options. The first is an MP3 zip. The second is VBR zip, and the third is, Ogg Vorbis. "Zip" means it's a type
of file that is compressed, and will have to be "unzipped" to use. I would use the Ogg Vorbis, as it has the best quality. But
there isn't tons of difference. If it's easier for you to use the MP3, do that. It'll be quicker too. Either way, you highlight the
file, right click, and click "save". That'll save it to your Hard Drive. Then you can play it, convert and burn, or upload it to your
player. It seems complicated, till you do it once or twice. Hope that helped.

or you can also open a link to a show like this...

www.archive.org/details/gd71-10-24.sbd.clugston.3292.sbeok.shnf

and replace the word "details" with the word download. like this...

www.archive.org/download/gd71-10-24.sbd....ston.3292.sbeok.shnf

then right click the vbr.mp3 version of each song and choose save link as.

i think this allows you to download some SBD's but im not sure...

That used to work, but I don't think it does anymore. Still it's only MP3. If you really want some nice shows,
just check out db.etree. Or traders den, or Dime a dozen. Tons of SBD's up for grab's.

If you want the MP3 version I suggest you install Mozilla firefox (free browser) and add an add incalled DownloadHelper (also free). It lets you save the soundboards (or most music) in MP3 format. You can also grab most youtube video's and its ez. I use this to save music to my ipod. I also like slacker.com - type in an artist name and it plays similar music like Pandora.com.
Most of those songs can be saved to MP3 format. Try dicks picks and you'll get some cool stuff. There's some cool garcia etc on slacker.com.

FLAC is a better way to go. One day I'll learn it. Captn Tony posted how to get things off eetree somewhere on these chat boards. It should be ez to find Tony's post, he doesn't post too much

Off archive I get the individual songs from the VBR Mp3 files.
they go to my computer downloads and from there I drop/drag them from downloads to the CD burner.

otherwise you can just listen to each song separately out of the download page.

I never DL a full show so I dunno.

If you wanted to put them on cd/usb stick/or media player like an IPOD or phone it should work the same way as it does when I DL and then burn to cd..

hope that helps..
