Very interesting read from Sandy Rothman who played in the late 80's JGAB and also played in the Black Mountain Boys with Garcia and David Nelson in Jerry's pre-rock era. Worth the time just for the most awesome photo of Garcia, Nelson, and Robert Hunter from the early 60's!!!!! Who knew that Hunter played mandolin?? I knew that Nelson did.

Sometimes I wonder why there wasn't a little more banjo on some of the GD's studio albums, other than Cumberland Blues and the Skeleton's from the Closet version of Dark Star.
