So I heard that the Dead played an acoustic version of Dark Star at least once over the years... I've been trying to find it to give it a listen, but haven't had any luck yet! Anyone know anything about this???

I was jamming that set at All Good really late and so many kids stopped to ask if tyhis was what they thought it was>Very cool indeed, especially with the sensory overload going on in the venue at the time, they could walk past and get some peaceful music on their way home. She tries to live by the golden rule.

I taped Bobby doing Dark Star in Wilkes-Barre on his solo acoustic tour. Haven't gotten around to editing the show as yet but it was nice. Seems like I remember him introducing it with, "I haven't tried this one yet." or something to that effect.Still Searching For The Sound??? My LMA Recordings and My Etree Recordings-

I think this is what is commonly confused as acoustic dark star.. The band seques briefly with acoustic instruments from Mountains into Dark Star, but then goes electric.

i haven't bought all the shows that have dark star on them from WRG which one are you speakin of particularly. Dark Star is by FARRR my favorite song they so. I been extremely happy at how they actually started to jam out Dark Star this past summer tour, previously most versions were real quite short as far as dark stars go. unfortunately the sound quality of the recordings was bad so i wasnt able to really enjoy them.
hopefully they continue the tradition of doin 20+min dark stars at the west coast tour
seems like there are other acoustic dark stars besides the wrg ones, which ones they are evade me though right now-

no i meant what other shows they did a acoustic dark star besides the wrg shows.
i think they did a semi acoustic (bobby was on accoustic anyways I think) during the tweener sets at the NYE 08 shows i think. but they were instrumental.-

Ok, another Dark Star Trivia Question (answer may need to wait until Monday).
Only once did the Grateful Dead Play Dark Star as an encore. When and where?
It is rumored that there was a shooting star right before they played that dark star encore.FFF! Family is Forever!!!
