A Jerry Memory...

#98145 2 years, 9 months ago
I don't recall the exact year, but it wasn't long after he started playing again after that coma scare in the '80s.
It was at the Wiltern in LA. JGB.
I don't know if it was his first show back, but I think, at least, it was one of them.
Anyway, as the band started coming on stage, the entire theater was up on it's feet. And the greeting they gave them -- Jerry, really -- was thunderous.
Now, my memory sometimes ain't what it was, but I seem to recall Jerry started with, "How sweet it is... to be loved... by you."
Well, opening song, the second, whatever... I do remember looking around at the others in the crowd, and everyone had tears running down their cheeks.
Just a perfect friggin' moment that says it all...

Thanks for the smile I remember several times throughout the 80s when Jerry moved us to tears: I miss Jerry & his interactions with us!

TS: That has to be the show. Thanks much.
It's a wonderful memory for me, but also a sad one. He just left us way too soon...
Thankfully, though, we still have the music.

I was there also! I remember the roar was deafening when Jerry walked on Stage. This was the first show I ever taped. Taping wasn't allowed at the Wiltern so we had to sneak in the equipment. We were in the 15th row, Great memories!

Unfortunately all my cassettes were destroyed by Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about Jerry.
