RIP Hubert Sumlin

OK this is really freaky. 2 week ago I had never heard of him. I started a thread "reading is good- r & r trivia. I consider myself pretty well versed in Rock History but had learned a bunch of interesting stuff reading Rolling Stone Mags 100 greatest guitarists (he was 45th). Anyway if you missed that thread he was Howlin Wolfs' lead guitarist... he's the original guitarist on Wang Dang Doodle, Smokestack Lightnin, Spoonful, Killing Floor (yes the zep cover), Back Door Man- amongst a ton of others. I just read he passed last Sunday. Good on Mick & Keith ( they are picking up all costs for his funeral) see article below:

So sad to see another one of the great blues men leave us. And so ironic that it was the very day after he came up in conversation here.

I was lucky enough to see him live. He came out and played Let It Bleed with the Stones at MSG in 2003. A great version.
