Fort Myers, Florida -- For the seventh straight year, an anonymous donor has dropped a $20 Liberty Eagle gold coin in a south Florida Salvation Army's red kettles, according to a press release.
It was wrapped in a note that reads, "In loving memory of Mimi." In past years the coin has been valued at approximately $1,400.
"We are always so excited and thankful when we find the Mimi Coin in our red kettles," says Major Tom Louden. "It provides us with the hope we need, especially in light of this year's ambitious goal."
The coin is never dropped at the same location. There's no pattern to indicate who the donor might be.
"We're not exactly sure who Mimi is," Louden said previously after a gold coin was donated in 2010. "But it's a wonderful way to honor this person, and it will do a lot of wonderful good for the people."
