Did you know that if you are a medical marijuana user that you most likely cannot give or receive organs for transplant? This is a real problem that we are facing! Let's do something about it!

A friend in Montana was given the right to use MMJ and a prescription for it. When he went to be evaluated for a liver transplant he was denied a position on the waiting list because the law considers him a drug user.

On the other hand if he had a script for Demerol or Oxycodone or Morphine he could and would be placed on the list.

Duplicity at it's finest.

So if someone had a transfusion of blood with a lot of THC in it, would that actually have an effect on them? Has there ever been a tudy done on this?

From what I understand, there is no restriction on medical marijuana users being able to donate or receive blood. I would say it is unlikely that somebody could become intoxicated with blood from a mmj donor.

What I did find is an article about The American Red Cross holding a blood drive with a MMJ dispensary in California.

drug users can give blood they just make plasme out of it is my understanding

I didn't read the articles but it doesn't make sense that they would deny a waiting recipient because a potential donor consumes weed. As far as I know, it isn't particularly damaging to any organs (although I'm pretty sure nobody would want my lungs).
