Drums and Space

#8160 3 years, 7 months ago
Anyone else miss drums and space? I mean, Furthur has been playing some great spacey jams, like the slipknot from the tower or the Eyes of the World> Days Between from the first night at the Mann Center, but I miss that big, epic 25 minutes in the second set saved especially for Drums and Space. Perhaps, they're not doing it because they feel like that's Billy and Mickey's thing, which is understandable. Or perhaps the fact that it did become something predictable after years and years of doing it. But regardless, it's always been one of my favorite parts of a show and it would be great to hear how strange Joe, Jeff and John could get on it!

I don't miss it at all. I always thought D & S was a second set killer. I'd much rather hear them stretch a tune out for 20 mins than D & S. The fact that there isnt any in Furthur makes me so happy.

Highway, hopefully you'll get to see Russo do a Moby Dick this year, at which point you'll be hoping for a solo drums.

Way too many years of D&S for me.
It's nice having a break from it IMHO.

Loved D&S, always said I'd happily pay the ticket price for three hours of that alone. That said, I really think you'd need Billy and Mickey to pull that off now. And frankly, I don't think space works as well without Jerry. He was a massive factor in that.

I don't miss it at all.

I love what Furthur does ~ a little way out, and then magically, back in. So smooth.

Not weird and dischordant, just to say that it was. : )))
