St Louis loses title as baseballs best city

#77266 2 years, 10 months ago
This came up on ESPN this morning. Evidently 1000's of Cardinal fans started bailing in the 7th inning. Not only that it was reported that the Ranger fans were louder than the St Louis fans and the game was in St Louis. Kinda like the Steelers taking over nearly every stadium they play in. Who leaves a World Series game early???????

The Rangers fans were definitely the louder fans last night. I can't blame them as it was really feeling like Texas was going to win that game. You could see the despair on Pujols face there towards the end of 9 innings of regular play. Kudos to the Cards (who eliminated my Phils) for a stellar skin of the teeth comeback win. That was an exciting game to watch. I was rooting for Texas as they have no titles but now I think I want to see the Cards comeback and stick it to the AL. I'm an NL guy at heart.

Me too. I wish they would get rid of interleague play. If I had my way this would ensure I would never have to watch the Bankees play again ever. (meaning the Yanks never make the playoffs or World Series again). I hope Pujols stays in St Louis.. I long for the days when there could be year after year rivalries .... when Mike Schmidt was always a Philly and Willie Stargell always a bucco. When NL and American League players were PUMPED for the all star game cause they hated the other league not for some bogus home field advantage.

You definitely could hear the Rangers fans last night. It sounded like it did in Houston a few years ago, when we were there.

This is the first I've heard of people leaving early.

My sweetie went to bed early, and today I'm going to rub it in a little.

I'm not from the STL originally, and have lived all over the country. I love baseball and have been to most stadiums. Cardinal fans are by far the best fans in the country. The are knowledgeable, respectful, and truly love baseball and the Cardinals. As far as bailing early, real fans do not get the majority of WS tix. They cost $150 face for the cheap seats and $500 from the scalpers.

Good point. The Cards have one of the highest payrolls, 4th or 5th, from one of the smaller cities, I thought they said20th.

The fans here support the team with over 3 million gate for a few years now.
