In my opinion, the official "boards" that some of us buy at the end of the show....the sound quality is horrible.

horrible in the sense that john k is often way too low in the mix, guitar wise...and the "lows" over power everything.

vocals for the whole group are way too low, and drowned out by the poorly mixed board.

60% of the reason im a deadhead is because of the attention to detail the guys spend on sound. this time around, the sound sucks.

I hit 6 shows this spring, and the sound at every venue: the boards speak wonderfully for it. some nights, its on, others not so much.


does anyone else come to this? everyone i've hit shows with this tour is saying the same thing as me, we want to know if we are alone?

im not complaining about the band, these boys are cooking. i just feel that the sound guys arent doing them justice.

Hate to agree but I do like some of the re-mastered SBD's I've heard come out.

the soundboards that i've bought have been great , no complaints
but i haven't bought any yet this tour

The bass is way up, but I just turn in down.
Re-mastered would be better, but they are not that bad for the same day.
As far as the matrix thing, I really don't know but I think I hear a little aud in the mix, more than the stage mics.

they are a matrix, mics pick up the ambiance by the soundboard and are mixed with the board feed. What i have bought sounded ok, but i like my recordings better sometimes, depends on my location when taping mostly whether i listen to my recording more or not

Just curious: Has anyone here bough a soundboard at the show and then compared it to one from the same show that was bought by mail order? Was there a difference?
