Trying to find a peacefull song

Phil's voice

#6119 3 years, 5 months ago
Is it just me or has Phil been sounding better and better each show? I feel like he is singing with more energy and more confidence every time I hear furthur play. There have been times when I thought that his vocals took some energy away from the music, but that is not the case anymore. Phil is sounding excellent!

His gravity's up & positivity will pull us through

The Old Man's getting Off!

& Bobby too- what a second wind he's caught this spring

& let's not forget 'Sunshine & the 4 Js'

The whole Band's turning On!

Is it just me, A Jed sittin' in Texas, or is this some of the most incredible stuff on the scene? The Earth's a Rumblin' & Freedom's blossoming out all over- Remember the shakin' back in 'the fall of '89 & Peace breakin' out the Fall of '78? Remember the sound effects provided by the Boys then?
... that one word is "why?"

I could do without his singing, I never reallly got into him taking over on vocals. Sometimes it seems his voice just sucks the energy out of the whole song.

Phil sings very well
he needs someone to do the Brent parts with him
not really anyone in Furthur for him to harmonize with

A review of a show in RELIX magazine years ago stuck with me, referring to a "Box of Rain" with vocals "only a mother or deadhead could love."
I think he may have taken some voice coaching somewhere in the early P&F's days, cuz he'd gotten noticeably more tuneful and, dare I say, professional sounding. He really belts 'em out these days and, please, the man's 71! I'm all about it!
