Cover tune for Furthur? What do you think?

#48220 3 years ago
One of my favorite Dylan songs - plus it has a great - but sad backstory... the story of Rubin Hurricane Carter. Another story of true American injustice.

Anyone else think this would be a good cover for furthur? Sometimes I think it would be an amazing song for furthur, other times I don't think it would work.

If you never saw this movie you may want to watch it (The Hurricane). Very good (not amazing) story about a heavyweight boxer from Newark NJ who was allegedly railroaded by the police. Lots of people tried to stop the injustice, including Bob Dylan. Eventually Rubin was freed from jail and I believe he is still alive today.

Thank you! I am delighted to see archives has an official soundboard of that show. www.archive.org/details/furthur2010-02-1...ficial.112936.flac16

Guess that answers my question, yes, the song sure does work.

Here is a link to all furthur official soundboards. They don't make it to archives until 4 months after the show (relatively new policy). These are soundboards with a blend of the audience - some people call them matrix recordings. Amazing quality like in the streaming section of this site. (Note I sorted the list by date, but you can resort, etc).

Hell, if we're talking Dylan, cover tunes for Furthur, and the album Desire (by way of Hurricane...), I would love to see -

Those who hear not the music. . . think the dancers mad.

Maybe one day they'll grow some balls and bust this easy but so frikin fun to hear live tune! Hurricane is good, but too serious. I think only dylan does it justice-love the song just dont wanna hear someone play it and not for what its really worth-and its pretty damn serious. Furthur should play west LA faedaway > LA woman
