Now that Furthur has gelled somewhat into its own, what do you think J.Garcia would say about the way they carry the torch and the institution that was the Grateful Dead?

I think he already said it:

I think he would love it! To me he always seemed modest about their success, so I think for him to see the new generation would really make him smile I often think about what Pigpen would think. He left us so early that I can't imagine what he'd think to see that 40 years later this music and community is thriving!

kinda tough since Furthur wouldn't exist if Jerry were around to comment. I know he was adamant about people doing their own thing and was down on the cover bands in general but I'm sure he'd be happy his brothers Phil and Bob were still following their heart and chasing the muse...
