Funny how memory works, or, in my case, doesn't so much work.

I could have sworn I had seen either Jerry Band or The Grateful Dead prior to 1992. However, I kept a bunch of ticket stubs and extracted them from the chaos for this exercise in remembrance.

My earliest stub I kept was Charlotte, NC, the Charlotte Coliseum (now torn down and long gone), Wednesday, June 17, 1992.

I don't really remember even being there, but I do remember RFK on the 20th of June.

So, I guess that's my first show, that I have proof of anyway.

I graduated high school in 1989, so by the the Dead were all over MTV with Touch of Grey, the older guys in classes above me had gone off to college and jumped on the bus, and they'd come back home with all sorts of tapes and extracurriculurs and we'd get our party on. Went off to school in 89 but apparently took until 92 to go see the Grateful Dead.

As a poster said above, not the best show ever but I got on the bus and never looked back. Seen every iteration (except Ratdog) since. The Other Ones, The Dead, Phil Lesh & Friends including the mighty 'Q', and now, Furthur.

Every show I get to see now is precious to me, thank you PHIL and BOBBY for keeping on.

The Friday night sound check at Watkins Glen 7/27/73 was my first Dead experience....fully dosed about 50 feet more or less from the stage. Was way back in the crowd for the concert the next day and followed up the weekend with The Band and the Dead at Roosevelt Stadium.

1st Furthur: Charlotte, NC February 10, 2010. Learned that Doin' That Rag while peaking is life changing to say the least! lol
