Brokedown was at the top of the list, for the reasons mentioned. But I always liked a change up. My favorite encore that I can think of,
was Red Rocks, 7/8/78. Terrapin Sta.>OMSN>Werewolves of London. Now thats an encore!
you just ruined my night, i just pulled the show up from archive, to check out the encore. now i have to listen to whole show; that was killer.
i was lucky enough to get a box encore at my first dead related show (Phil and Friends '08) and i caught another one at hampton this april which was really special cause hampton has so much dead history and cause my dad saw the dead at hampton countless times..so i'd have to say box of rain is my favorite encore

Well I love a slow encore and as much as I love the depth of Dead songs they could perform, I love it when they do a sweet cover of say, The Weight. Like they did at my first show Sept. 4th 1991 Richfield, OH. Jerry, Bobby, Phil and Brent all sang a verse or two and it was so touching and beautiful. I loved Brent's voice and his playing of course.
Aw, that Werewolves of London as an encore is one of my favorites, though I was not there to see it. I really thought they may play it again with the TWO NIGHTS of a full moon last year at red rocks. It was a nice treat to hear it during set break, and I remember someone near us busting out a werewolf mask and dancing around like crazy.
Anyway, for upbeat my favorite has been Samson and Delilah. All time favorite is Brokedown Palace, and holds a special place in my heart.
