another gem from 74' (but arn't they all?)

starts with a nice mellow Jam over 10 minutes and a great selection of tunes all the way through. I like how the 2nd sets back then had a lot of songs that would become 1st set only songs shortly after. Whoever was messing with their voices back then was doing a spectacular job and the music speaks for itself. Everybody was so into it, great keyboard work from Keith at that time - these shows from 74' absolutley can not be beat!

If I remember correctly, Phil said in his book, Searching For The Sound, that he felt that the Dead's absolute peak as a live band was the 40 or so shows they played in '74. So you're in good company, MM.

I have that book, I still gotta read it. Seems like a lot of people feel that way judging by all the reviews n stuff - hard to disagree.

I've always thought that 73-74 were really experimental and out there.. those two years were really special.
