checking credit cards at the door works but makes line time longer and is not really feasible for a place like Shoreline.

Pearl Jam does the FanClub fee thing and that works to some extent.

a scalper could try to manipulate the system I suggested, but to order more than a few tickets they would have to have an army of zombie posters on the board. things like that can be weeded out by IP and activity.

I know there is some way to do this where fans get the edge.

They could open the doors earlier to check cards and have more ticket takers.
As far as presale tickets are concerned, they need a larger presale allotment of tickets available for purchase. They could also try the lottery thing that Phish does. There appears to be no perfect system. Ticketmaster and the scalpers are simply evil.

The Pepsi Center in Denver uses credit cards, the people at the doors read the cards pretty quick but yes there has to be alot of ticket takers to make it work well

Maybe Stadiums shows are needed again?
