Re: Furthur needs an Online "Fan Club" Pre-Sale

I couldn't even log on to the pre-sales for this spring tour.

I think there needs to be a change, but have no clue what it would be. I know other bands have "fan clubs" and members pay a minimal yearly fee and get access to a non-transferable pre-sale password and it seems to cut out some of the scalpers, but not all for sure.
It's just such a shame that fans don't get to see the band, and over-priced tickets sit unused on scalper' s sites. Maybe some genius will come up with a great plan soon .

I have to agree, it would be great if something better could be done. Darn Logistics... hmmm.

checking credit cards at the door works but makes line time longer and is not really feasible for a place like Shoreline.

Pearl Jam does the FanClub fee thing and that works to some extent.

a scalper could try to manipulate the system I suggested, but to order more than a few tickets they would have to have an army of zombie posters on the board. things like that can be weeded out by IP and activity.

I know there is some way to do this where fans get the edge.

They could open the doors earlier to check cards and have more ticket takers.
As far as presale tickets are concerned, they need a larger presale allotment of tickets available for purchase. They could also try the lottery thing that Phish does. There appears to be no perfect system. Ticketmaster and the scalpers are simply evil.

The Pepsi Center in Denver uses credit cards, the people at the doors read the cards pretty quick but yes there has to be alot of ticket takers to make it work well

Now that Furthur has this messageboard, it has a database of its fans which could be used to limit access to a "Fan Only" Pre-sale of tickets.

I think this would go a long way in eliminating scalping and Furthur tickets popping up on StubHub minutes after the sale starts.

Who's with me on this?

for sure. like pj/tenclub and dmb/warehouse
