Furthur needs an Online "Fan Club" Pre-Sale

#3053 3 years, 1 month ago
Now that Furthur has this messageboard, it has a database of its fans which could be used to limit access to a "Fan Only" Pre-sale of tickets.

I think this would go a long way in eliminating scalping and Furthur tickets popping up on StubHub minutes after the sale starts.

Who's with me on this?

They already have Frontgate.
They just need to do an invite only sale where each of us are issued unique passwords via PM or email.
Then we can get into Frontgate with those passwords. Nobody could share their password because it would only be good for one.

I think a measure like this would eliminate the chance for scalpers to cut fans out of the show.

Do a lot of Mail Order tickets show up on scalper sites?

I'd say just up GDTSTOO's allocation some and make it money orders only, as long as they can get unfilled orders back to folks before the internet onsale dates.

There was a Presale today for Shoreline.
There are tickets from that Presale up on Stubhub now.
A presale is not nearly as good if there is nothing to stop scalpers from participating.

GDTSTOO is great, but it is risky for high demand shows.
I'm all for letting them have a ton of tickets and doing it that way, but I don't think that will happen.
The Internet is here, like it or not.

They don't have to cut any fans out to do this.
They can still have Public Presales before Ticketmaster.

It would just be great if they added an extra pre-pre-Sale just for those of us that are members of their messageboard community.

Current Pre-sale format is decent in my book. Only way to take scalpers out of the mix is to require ticket holders to present the actual credit card used for tix purchase during entry to the show. (or photo id )

I went walkin' out last summer
Tryin' to find a breath of air
I went walkin' on the mountain
A friend had told me I'd find you there
