I heard one of those '73 U of I shows played on Sirius/XM and loved it. It's been a while since I've been to the Assembly Hall. Used to live 20 minutes from there.

Not quite 30 yet. June 30 1984. It was a pretty good show at a really cool venue in downtown Indianapolis. Jerry tore it up during Deal. I was awestruck...

This thread has inspired me to listen to my first show closely, and its really good. Admittedly I was young and was, ahem, was inspired for my first time which made this a bit fuzzy. That said, it is really beautiful music.

Glad I was there. LOL.

Some grate shows in this thread for people's first experience...maybe that's why we stuck around?

I was at the Roosevelt, Nassau and Glen Falls shows mentioned...maybe we met?

Yea, I've been pretty impressed with some of the shows that were everyone's first experience, I've actually been listening to alot of these shows and most of them have just been outstanding. It's been a fun thread and I'm glad you've enjoyed it. It was you that gave me the idea. Thank-you gff.

My first show was 1/10/79. What i remember the most, being a fan of their music but not yet a deadhead, was when they played Dark star, people who appeared to be be out for the count, and there were many of them, seemed to be brought back from the dead and started dancing like crazy. I never saw music effect people that much up until then.

Grate show. This was a show lots of heads in NY talked about a lot in the following years. I think if a great tape of this show circulated it would be one of the famous ones.

This is one of my favorite shows to this day. It wasnt even sold out. I gave a deadhead two six packs for two two tickets for the show. I had no idea how profound this night would be for me.
