Yup, you folks are the oldsters around here. I also just passed 30 years. Well, in september of 2011. (9/26/81 Buffalo)
I can't come down, it's plain to see.
I can't come down, I've been set free.

July 4 1970 at McMahon Stadium, Calgary

Last stop on the Festival Express, inspiration for the song Might as Well, and as seen in the documentary movie.

We took the train east to Calgary to meet the westbound Festival Express.

Also saw Janis Joplin, Sha Na Na, the Band, and Ian and Sylvia (CC Rider) that weekend.

Pigpen was in fine form. Janis was fairly boisterous on stage.

As an add-on to the 40-year club, perhaps you should also have joined the GD fan club prior to 1973.

My first show was 8/5/74, Civic Convention Hall Auditorium, Philadelphia, PA.

1: Promised, B. E. Women, BIODTL, Dire Wolf, Bobby McGee, Tennessee Jed, Jack Straw, Deal, El Paso, China Cat> I Know You Rider, Around
1.5: Seastones Phil & Ned
2: Half Step> Roses, Big River, Ramble On, Me & My Uncle, Scarlet, He's Gone> Truckin> Stella Blue, Saturday Night E: U. S. Blues

A god chunk of this -- including the monstrous jam out of Truckin' that eventually led into Stella -- is on Dick's Picks 31.

Never joined the fan club. Didn't need to. After a certain point in my life I was always surrounded by at least a few Deadheads.
