Wherever we go there will be birds to cheer you and flowers to color in the fields around.
Wherever we go I will be right here near you, you can't get lost when you are always found!

You are missed Brent.

Oh I love Brent. Hands down the best keyboardist the Dead ever had. He's also the one who brought the band into the tech era with all his synthesizers. You can draw a straight line from Brent to all those magnificent drumz/space freakouts of the late 80s and early 90s with all the midi samples and such.

Brent is definitely missed by many. He was there for my intro to the grateful dead concert experience.
And leave it on!

They played this show today on the XM GD channel.

I am not a big fan of train wrecks, and try to keep it positive all the time, especially in light of "falls".

Yet this is one for the ages.

Brent was an amazing keyboardist. Some of the "sounds/tones" were less than desirable, yet he still could really play.

Take a listen:

****Had to add how human Jerry is by coming out and starting up GDTRFB. The perfect song in a tough situation.

at first, i was not a huge fan...i thought he had a cheesy bob seger-ish sound to his voice, and did not enjoy a lot of his tones

most of the songs he wrote did not seem to work within the context of the band...they had a slick rock-radio pop feel...far from me, easy to love you, tons of steel...they always sounded awkward to me

i was however, converted to the ways of the mydland on sweltering hot day in 1989 in philadelphia, when he called to the sky for a breeze and it was thusly delivered, and i was a fan from then on...

although i will never be able to forgive shoe-horning 'i will take you home' into one of the greatest second sets of all time (10-16-89)...that's one me and brent will have to take up at a later date
