RFK Stadium in Philly. Site of the 83 Live Aid show and the 87 GD/Dylan show and the 89 GD show with the awesome Blow Away immortalized in a official DVD release. The place was old and decrepit. I think the 89 show was the last or one of the last shows there. I also saw a show there in the early 80's billed as "The Roundup" with the Allmans, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet and a few others I don't recall. Hand me my old guitar pass the Jack Daniels around....

I'm pretty sure Live Aid was in 85.

The omni in Atlanta. The weather was always on it's best behavior, as a bonus.

Thanks for the corrections.

I think JFK and RFK stadiums in Philly and DC are both history.

How could I forget Giants Stadium, NJ??

I think the Capitol Centre in Landover MD is gone too, but I'm not sure.
These are the good old days!!

Am I the only one who appreciates the sports history of the Boston Garden intertwined with 6 night runs in the early 90's?

ALL those basketball and hockey banners were really a sight, especially if your seats happened to be eye level to them

The Grateful Dead performed at the Boston Garden more times than any other band with 24 performances from 1970 to 1994. They were intended to be the last band to play the Garden with six shows scheduled for September 1995. Those shows were canceled due to the death of Jerry Garcia. The Dead did not play at the Garden for a number of years following an incident in which they were caught grilling lobsters on a fire escape before a performance.
I remember 4-2-73. One of my favorite Bob speaks from the stage happened before Looks Like Rain: "You folks that are crushing to the front will be alarmed and dismayed to know that we just let loose a bushel of spiders and big fat tarantulas up front here." To which Phil added; "And Snakes."

Wow what a sad thread to read...saw so many in the venues listed. I saw every Dead performance at the Capital and the Academy of Music run in 77 were my favorite of of that run thru the NE.

Yea the Philly outdoor stadium was JFK

Anyone else around here that used to see shows at Roosevelt Stadium? That place was a shithole but it seemed like OUR shithole...

I saw the GD in Roosevelt Stadium for two nights in 73 along with the Band. I also saw them there on 8/4/76.
I saw my first GD in Dillon Stadium, Hartford CT in 1972. On July 16, 1972, the Grateful Dead played in Dillon Stadium and were joined on stage by Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley and Jai Johanny Johanson of the Allman Brothers. In theory that stadium is still there, though they have not held any concerts there since the late 1970's.
Here are some Roosevelt Stadium pictures. The last two are from 8-4-76
