89 Giants Stadium - East Rutherford, NJ
Mexican Hat Dance tuning b4 Stranger opener.
Some of the Neville Brothers joined the boys for Drums > Iko > Watchtower > Morning Dew > Sugar Magnolia (plus) Encore: Knocking On Heavens Door

Extended first set.
With Bob Dylan during second set
Jerry played pedal steel during I'll Be Your Baby Tonight

It was always a treat seeing the Nevilles open for the Dead. One time I saw the Dirty Dozen Brass band open for them and man
those guys had me danicin up a storm.

In 89 Los Lobos opened. The Neville's just showed up post drums.

I met David Hidalgo one time. Turns out when Los Lobos was playing the Warfield in '87 Jerry stopped by to catch the show and
gave him a green/white strat. It would be one thing to have Jerry want to come see you play, but to also bequeath you such a gift?

In an interview Jerry mentioned how much he liked Los Lobos. They covered Bertha on one of their albums.

Yes Dave, that would have been the Deadicated album. Very good one to revisit sometime. I believe it was partly on the basis of
Jane's Addiction recording of Ripple on that album that they were approached about playing at the Vibes a couple years ago.
