The man sure is a good drummer- nice st stephens and caution>other one.
franklins is high energy too- always a good thing. John Molo is a better drummer, but he plays off beat and changes the actual Grateful Dead song to something else(sounds amazing)- but id rather hear something spot on to the original sound of the song when it comes to GD material. Molo does turn Uncle Johns Band inside out with that calypso feel...always loved the way they played that with Molo. Russo's got guts....and I love that

i think the eyes is spectacular, the guitar work from scott metzger is always great and i love when it gets electronic/spacey/weird... it seems to me that the idea of the show was to experiment with the dead catalogue more than to recreate it... so as someone who loves dead music in just about any context, i think this is a real treat. i'm very used to hearing Dark Star and Splintered, who are both incredible, but sound just like the dead. this stuff sounds more like russo/benevento/metzger (and the rest) during the jams. not saying that makes them better than the tribute bands i mentioned, just different, and a lot of fun
