maybe I should just begin filling up this thread with dozens of links of sexual assaults & harassment these poor women have had to endure...
maybe that would wake some of you up to how bad an idea it is for women to serve with men in foward combat units,,,,

Its the same in the regular world too
Should woman stop working altogether then?

Just saying

only if their work environment puts them in the same jeopardy to this type of thing...

why is that such a bad idea?

why are you folks so hell-bent on having even another demographic of Americans fighting in war?

(because of equality???)

sorry, Ladies...
but I still believe in opening up car doors for you...
Call my notions antiquated..

There's a HUGE difference between treating a woman like a lady and treating a woman as an equal. Both are easy to do though

well, if women are our equals in physical ability...
why is it that in professional tennis, they play best of 3 sets per match, & men play best of 5?

Why do you care if a woman wants to join the military?

I guess I could ask you the same question for a lot of things ....
I went walkin' out last summer
Tryin' to find a breath of air
I went walkin' on the mountain
A friend had told me I'd find you there

why do you care if I care if women want to join the military?

but to respond:

I dont are one way or the other, if a woman wants to join the military..
they've been serving in the military in certain roles for a long time...

its the combat role, I believe they're not best suited for....

I find it ironic that I hav to argue with hippies to keep more human beings out of warzones....
(this world is certainly upside down)

Its amazing you've been arguing with me all day and all I tried pointing out was that women were already doing jobs in combat zones and deserve to get paid for it.

Ok ... why do you care if they want to fight in combat?

Dude, war sucks and I hate it but I also would hate for my house to burn down so we need firefighters (women if they want), I hate if my house gets burglarized so we need policeman and women if they want to. I'm not seeing much of a difference..

hey, if a woman WANTS TO fight in potential combat theatre of operations...who's to say that shouldnt be her choice..
but I think video I posted above certainly gives some merit as to reasons why they shouldn't..
& coming from a platoon leader, its an opinion that should be seriously considered....

So the solutions to the rape and sexual assault of women in our military by our own troops is to deny them access and not try and solve men's psychological problems and shortcomings? I'm not sure if I agree.that the best way to solve any problem is by denying members of our society equal rights under the law. Woman have choices just like men do, it may be tough to appreciate when you are a male but woman can decide for themselves just as men are allowed to do. Yo may not want them to but they have the ability to think for themselves and make their own rationale for facing mortal danger.

yeah, that's just it...
I dont think they'll be given that choice..
I honestly believe this new mandate is directly related to the fact that the military is desperate for bodies at this point...

I dont even wanna talk about how enlistment helps perpetuate this out of control military industrial complex, & its repercussions on our society..

& yes, I want to see (less) people eligible for combat roles, so our gov't has less ability to keep go invading other countries.
what say we spend some of that money back home, instead?

Well we don't have a draft right now and enlistment in the us is optional though it is required to register with the federal government when you turn 18. So I don't see how they are not being given a choice? Its a slippery slope when you start denying a portion of citizens in a country privileges that are given to half the population. That just feels like its setting all of us up for a future I don't want to be a part of.
