DM and NY, still have to politely disagree. all the experiences in the world do not make up for an experience you have not had. you never know what's going to happen for one particular show. EVER. you don't know if it's worth it until you've done it. you can speculate all you want on it and even make false and biased conclusions, but until you do it, YOU WILL NEVER KNOW for sure. you will always think you know.

Hey now, I would pay $150 to see a TXR show (well if it is Furthur or a sweet P&F line up i.e. not Phil and Sons) I don't have to experience it first to know that I would pay that, I still don't understand why it is necessary to be there to have an opinion. Do I think it is too much to pay ... yes I do but I would still pay it. Why can't it just be as simple as that?

opnions are fine i was clear about that. but that's all they are, just opinions. and if i am going to look into anybodys opinion on anything, i'm going for the one with experience in whatever it might be. primary source vs. secondary source. no brainer when you want to draw serious conclusions.

to answer your question, i think $150 is too high to see furthur. i've never spent that much to see them and i'm not sure if i will. i had no problem payig 150 bucks to see PLQ, and no issues paying to see phil with medeski and scofield. now, that doesn't mean a furthur show wouldn't be worth 150 bucks. i don't know. i won't know for sure until i make that leap if i choose to.

you can decide whatever and make it your opinion.

the person buying the ticket before experiencing is waiting to find out if it's worth it. they are taking the risk. they aren't sure if it's worth it yet. they will draw their conclusion afterward.

deciding it's too much and not going is another opinion and valid, but you'll never know if it's true or not. it will remain a preconceived notion.

But wlewis I have never seen a show at TXR but I have seen furthur and I have seen bands in small venues and from those experiences i can make a pretty educated guess whether $150 is worth it or not. It's really not all that mysterious. Hope you are having a good day man and we'll see you soon!
