I like Tool. But not really a good match.
Tool would be a good fit with Rush or Dream Theater, Coheed and Cambria or something a little more Prog.
I'd like to see Furthur on the road with the David Nelson Band, Ziggy Marley or The Doobie Bros. ya know ?-

I'd rather see Furthur alone on their regular tours as it would shorten their time any other way but festivals are different.....-

I'd be down, I'm a big fan of mixing and matching different groups of our society just to see what kind of weirdness would happen.
I don't know much about Tool but I have had a few conversations with Tool fans (an old roommate was way into them), sounds like we have a few things in common as far as fan bases go.
I always wanted to see a rapper like KRS-1, Wu Tang, or Tribe Called Quest open for the Grateful Dead for the same reasons...Shoot the breeze, lose the keys
