Incapacitation and incarceration

Beyond unease and unemployment
Massive storms and mass shootings
Infighting and insecurity
Dwindling resources and diminishing returns

Regardless of recession and recklessness
Pollution and persecution
Lost loves and loneliness
Unanswered prayers and unwanted pressure

I’ve got family and friends
A roof to shelter me
Clothes to warm me
And food in the fridge

I’ve got some of my hair, most of my wit and all of my teeth
I have unfulfilled dreams to pursue
Energy to chase them with
And readers with whom to share my thoughts

I also have insight enough to realize
That with these gifts
And the opportunities of a New Year
I have everything.

Thanks. I've been sitting here feeling a little bummed that the holidays are over. The season this year was the best since before my dad was first hospitalized in 2005.
