i won't dispute that each show on the above mentioned list is a good one, but i can't take it seriously as a "best of" list without s single show from 1985. and with no shows between 1982 and 1988 the list is even less credible.

I wasn't sure if you were referring to the list posted within the previous post or the list(s) from the gratefuldeadprojects.com link from the OP's post. If you meant the gratefuldeadprojects.com list, I just wanted to make sure you didn't just look at the 30 dates listed near the top of that page because if you read the text at the top it tells you that the project they were doing would be excluding a bunch of shows already widely considered/known as, best ever. You gotta scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the links to their project results. Their 79-86 & 87-90 projects include a bunch of 82, 85, & 88 shows. Just wanted to make sure you didn't miss out on them since you seem to have pretty strong feelings about the quality to be found in each of those years.

A lot of good lists. Though I think 10/26/1989 Miami, FL is often overlooked. Strangest "Dark Star" that I know of next to 10/31/1991. It's explores some pretty dark places of the mind and then pulls you out spinning into a nice "The Wheel". Check it out gratefuldeadprojects.com/1987_1990.html

jodiah where you at that show? I sure was...wow that was really something, the place went crazy when they broke into Dark Star

There is no best; only personal favorites. I haven't read through every reply yet, but my favorite has always been 6/28/74.

Tastes are a funny thing. I can appreciate the shows from the 60s from time to time, but really, they don't do it for me like stuff from 72-74, or 85, or 89-90. I know that is heresy around here, but those are MY preferences.

Another all-time favorite is 11/21/85.

I also like listening to shows with amazing versions of certain songs, regardless of the show as a whole. Like 10/12/84, which has an AMAZING Morning Dew.

Or complete runs, like the 10/74 Winterland run. Or the 81 Greek. Or the entire Spring tour 1990.

I'm no expert, but I have been collecting tapes since 1986.

There is no best; only personal favorites.
