i had heard of him and seen a little footage prior to last fall but last fall at monterey...we were on site in the RV lot and late at night after visiting the stage and what not we come back and our neighbors are playing ravi from right there at the monterey pop festival, of course many were "to the gills" but i never UNDERSTOOD eastern rhythms or sounds until that night. mind was officially blown. everything about this human is captivating.
who else is gonna bring you, a broken arrow?

Was really sad to see this. Thank you Ravi for being alive, and bringing your music to the West. RIP

Highly recommend anything pre-Capitol Records, but the Ravi Shankar/Ali Akbar Khan - Ragas (1987) is decent. If you can find the albums on World Pacific, it's a good place to start.
You aren't interesting or clever when you write or speak in the lyrics of others. Rather, what are YOUR words?

It's dead and over when close enough is good enough.
