Balboa Theater - San Diego
From Jambands:
Bob Weir and Jackie Greene were joined by Tim Flannery, third base coach for the San Francisco Giants, for an acapella rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the Balboa Theatre in San Diego last night. Greene then played a solo set, which came to a close with Flannery taking the stage to play guitar and sing the final verse of “Don’t Let the Devil Take Your Mind”. Weir then came out for a solo set.
The third set started off with just Weir and Greene doing “Josephine” > “The Other One” > “Loser” before Flannery sat in on guitar and harmonica for Johnny Russell’s “Catfish John,” “Peggy O” and “Friend of the Devil.” Each of them sang a verse during the three tunes, with the trio harmonizing for the final verse. The set closed with “Not Fade Away,” with Greene and Weir returning a few minutes later for an encore of “Brokedown Palace.”
