is your IE fully updated? If not, I would do that first. It's going to look and feel different, but it'll keep all your bookmarks and settings. I run Firefox with NoScript and AdBlockPlus, but every once in a while, I'll need to use IE to get a website to operate properly. I keep both fully updated. If I didn't have such good luck with Firefox, I'd try Chrome. I'd never run IE as my main browser. Just not as malleable as the others. So many useful plug-ins for Firefox.

If your browser is working fine right now, I'd create a restore point. I'd update IE before doing that, but it's not a big deal. You could create one before and after the updates. If IE does a major overhaul as it updates, it should create a restore point automatically before installing a new version and/or the updates.

thanks for all the advice, IE was fully updated

Google Chrome is the shit!

not only did it take a simple minute and little space to install but on this website its key. Chrome will take 30-45 seconds to load a page sometimes BUT it will load eventually with 1 click..... IE on the other hand gives you the message "internet explorer cannot display the webpage" after 10 seconds half the time, and you have to keep refreshing.

plus the spell check is nice - I highly recommend anyone still using IE to stop and try something new!
