obviously I'm on a different computer now but Internet Exploror just 'stopped working' on my laptop and now I have no other web browser.

I restarted the computer several times, shut it down, disconnected the internet .... and nothing is making it work.

for a while now I've been losing the internet and have to restart the computer, it was going a little slow today so I restarted it and ever since then IE wouldn't open again. I have the internet as I can get on AIM and other stuff but every time I try to open IE I get the following messages....


"Internet Exploror has stopped working
Windows is looking for a solution to the problem"

then this message comes right up

"Internet Exploror has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"

then it keeps attempting to reopen

any advice before I try to restore it to factory settings or something?

I'll try to restart some more and mess with a few things but I want my computer for TRI tonight. the last 2 weeks I had buffering problems and I finally figured that out and now my IE just stopped working.

Head over to .Org & pose the question to Redial2...

it just happened to start working again randomly so ill go with that for now...

I run Chrome. It is way better than IE. But, I'm no expert. Maybe you missed a critical update or something.
Send Redial a PM on Ratdog. He's good at this stuff. And usually willing to help.

maybe I should download a new browser as a back up anyway

is Chrome preffered over Firefox?

I use chrome also

If you are running on windows you can go to system tools, then restore. Try to restore back to a previous date prior to it not working.

it's actually working now but since I never configured any back up plan I would of had to restore to factory settings (i was looking into it).... I should probably keep more up to date with some stuff..... the "register your computer" and survey thing still come up when I start/restart it. gotta be 3-4 years old now

I would download Firefox or Chrome, or both as a back up.
