p1: standing still, hands crossed, eyes sometimes closed, inently listening.
p2: stranger says, "do you think you could dance or something?"
p1: with a smile, "I'm listening. I've been doing this for 25 years."
p2: "Oh, it doesn't look like you're enjoying it."
ten minutes pass...
p2: taps p1 on the shoulder, tears in their eyes, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bother you. Can I have a hug?"
p1: gives p2 a big, long, strong hug.
p2: "Oh, a real hug. THANK YOU." as they still look like they're feeling guilty for intruding on p1's mindspace.
p1: "I'm a listener, not a dancer. I LOVE to LISTEN to this music."
p1 & p2: smiles.
It went something like that anyway. It was beautiful, intense, and a bit weird, and I felt a little bad for p2.
EDIT: oops, just noticed it was specifically for Fall 2012. This stands out for me, and I thought to share it.
You aren't interesting or clever when you write or speak in the lyrics of others. Rather, what are YOUR words?
