Thats your problem, you think this is a game. Some of us are trying to have an objective conversation in a pivital election year, that always seems to get detracted by emotionally fueled attacks. I welcome all perpective and agree with good ideas, my poli-ego dosen't trip me up.

It's a very serious time. You hit the nail on the head there. I think it's why some of us get frustrated when we try to strike up a discussion of very serious issue and to have thoughtful dialog that we just get shot down with the same tired leftist garble. '

This is not a typical election. There is a helluva lot at stake in determining which direction this country takes into the future. You may laugh at me and call me names but at some point when we sober up we're going to realize just how significant the difference is between these two men running to lead.

I'm done trying to convince people they need to step back and consider what's going on. I'm convinced that's a futile endeavor.

eco, you seem like a reasoned and kind sort. Good luck to you if I drop out here.

I'm open minded and caring. I'm also very real. Facts are the conservatives are a huge threat to this country and I've drawn the line and want them to go away. Others may not be that far down the America Divided road as me and I applaud their tolerance and perseverance. I know where I stand and am no hypocrite. United we stand......

Double standard my ass. I'm me.

It would be silly to leave the board over an election thread. Some people feel the need to surround themselves with only people that agree with them, therefore never challenging their own intellect. Some people (liberals well included) are just dopes that watched too much cable analysis and regurgitate it as their own ideas, all while butchering the topics at hand.

Go to the “community tab” on the top and go to the “furthur connect” I am sending you a PM.

Precisely! Which is why most conservative economists are afraid to talk about it....a tad too close to home. For another, albeit radical, perspective...take a look at this. From David Harvey, classically trained British economist in the 1950s who came to see the errors of capitalism and has now moved to the "dark side"... Marxism!!!

tdog, let me try to sum it up for you. Your candidate of choice and his party are anti-gay, believing that same-sex couples shouldn't be entitled to the same equal rights as everyone else because they're different. They treat women as second class citizens who are incapable of making their own health care decisions. They are racist. I mean do I really need to go on?

Talk about ignorant, over reaching comment....

Women Second Class Citizens? How? What exactly are you talking about? How have Republicans fixed the system so women are incapable of making their own health care decisions? Last I checked anyone can get abortions...Shit the NYC schools hand out emergency day after contraception with out parental consent.

Rascist How? Tell me exactly what you consider rascist polict.

Liberals are such hypocrites....you preach and try to shape and control everyone but live your lives to different standards..

Liberal policies have destroyed everything they have ever tried to improve (poverty...worse education....worse.....foreign policy worse....economy worse)

First off, I'm not a "Liberal". I'm way farther to the left than that. Second, I was just trying to help tdog understand why people felt the way they did about Romney because he asked.

In any case, you left out the part about LGBT rights and Marriage Equality. So, let's start with Bullying. www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/closeread...tt-romney-bully.html

Marriage Equality thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2012/08/13/681111...omney-has/?mobile=nc

Republican Attacks on Women www.nytimes.com/2012/05/20/opinion/sunda...en-is-real.html?_r=0

Racism www.thenation.com/article/165576/gops-blatant-racism#

These are just a few of many articles, YouTube videos, etc. you can dig through. I would do it for you, but I should really get back to my morning tea and today's edition of The Socialist Worker.

Thats why it kills me that we have to choose between Giant Douche and Turd Sandwich. I see Obama as the lesser of two evils but still evil. There are fundamental problems with our base system that will likely never be touched let alone fixed. Phred, you ever read CLR James, I just finished his Quebec Lectures where he gives a great explanation about the fundamental flaws in Capitalism. Of course if you mention the "S" or "C" words you become the target of most everyone.

This thread pretty much sums up the political climate in the USA. The poly-ticks have you exactly where they want you: divided and arguing among yourselves.

United we stand and divided we fall. When we're divided and arguing among ourselves, the poly-ticks can do whatever they want.

This is why I gave up on Republicans and Democrats. Well I never liked Republicans to begin with

Consider voting Libertarian or Green Party or whatever third party is available in your State. You'll respect yourself in the morning.

I think your right BillyDeLion. I'm going to try not to give this thread anymore power. Plus, I'm tired of seeing it at the top of forum. But, the debates tonight will probably only make it worse even though everyone here probably already knows who they're voting for.

Yes, I have! Excellent discussion...would that more people would/could understand the perspectives contained and related there. But, we (in the USA) are brain-washed and "trained" at an early age that we (USA) are the be-all and end-all of civilization. There ARE other ideas out there. And, of course, you are right re. the lesser of two evils. I thought that by injecting a dose of Marxism we could really heat this up a bit. And now you raise the specter of socialism? Oh my, I can hear the gaskets and o-rings blowing even as I type this....what fun! Let the pot-shots fly...
