Got my flight and hotel booked. Staying a 2 blocks from the Whitcomb, at some flea bag place called the Aida. It was super cheap so I guess I get what I paid for. Anyways, I'm there and can cross this one off the bucket list.

pics of the inside of the hotel look pretty good, but it's not in the best neighborhood. this part of Market Street gets pretty interesting late at night, but not extremely unsafe. just be aware of your surroundings, use your street smarts, and if you're walking back and forth to the BGCC stay on Market St. You'll definitely want to avoid Turk Street late at night, which is only a couple of blocks away from your hotel.

not trying to scare you at all, just passing on some friendly advice. on the whole, the "bad" parts of San Francisco aren't that bad at all. i walk this area of SF late at night when i go to shows and have never had a problem.

I agree. I've stayed at the Whitcomb the last 3 years and it is a little iffy but never had a problem. Good advice though to be aware of your surroundings and stay on Market Street.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be OK though. Walked to pretty mean streets before so I'm used to it but will keep my eye open.

That's it then. They only do that within a day or two of the announcements. Tomorrow!

That does end the 4th night speculation. But confirms what a lot of us have been waiting to hear.

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that if the 29, 30 and 31 sell out quickly they might announce a 4th show on 12/28. this is pure speculation, but i remember last year's shows (with the exception of 12/31/11) had tickets available for many weeks afer tix went on sale. the band was probably hesitant to announce a 4-night run this year not knowing if there would be enough demand for a Thursday show.

the other thing to consider is activity at Terrapin Crossroads ahead of the New Year's run. Phil probably has a few things up his sleeve for the winter holidays. so don't hesitate to come out early and soak up all the good stuff happening in the Bay Area in late December.

we'll leave the light on for ya!!!

Excited!!! Need the next set of shows to look forward to since Santa Barbara was SO long ago!

Personally, I am happy it is 3 nights instead of 4 as 12/31 is my last available vacation day for 2012

Wow thanks for the heads up!

I thought it would be hard to fill out 4 nights there.
I went walkin' out last summer
Tryin' to find a breath of air
I went walkin' on the mountain
A friend had told me I'd find you there
