There is a value in being in the same hotel as others you want to hang out with. Makes the time there even more special.
Also, there's a value in being so close. Very little public transportation will be needed. That saves money.

I agree it's hard to beat being able to walk from the venue to your hotel. That's why they should do a 3 nighter in Vegas. The Hard Rock is perfect. Show's over you walk down the hall to the elevator and your room.
