Well, I am thinking from the standpoint of hearing them from a stereoscopic position in front of the soundboard. At Cuthbert it sounded PERFECT! It's more the acoustics at a venue, imho, that affect the sound coming to your ears. The guy at the board can only do so much. But you can't change the physical nature of the venue.
For the greatest enjoyment of the music, it's about my positioning in the venue.
You should have heard how bad the sound was at Portland's Memorial Coliseum. It was like they had a natural tape delay bringing back every note. There was nothing they could do about it, so they made lemonaid and played off it all night. Did an impeccable Black Throated, West LA and an Amazing Scarlet Fire. I was lucky that our seats were really close.
I bet Mansfield is gonna have that problem.
