Phil, Bob: Please Upgrade the Sound System

#18693 3 years, 2 months ago
Many comments about this can be found here:

furthur.net/forum/general-discussion/825...imit=20&start=40

And I could get a petition signed if it would help...!

There are many more informed comments about this in other places.

Seeing all those pictures of last year's tour was a reminder: Venues look amazing, but a better overall sound system is desperately needed.

Thank you!

I totally disagree... Furthur uses state of the art Meyer Sound stuff. To me, it's perfect.

ski--compare it to GD times. Thin and sterile, with vocals turned way down.

Part equipment, part mix. At the least, they have moved from clubs to the big rooms and the sound should keep up with the upgrade.

And turn bob's vocals up!

Well, I am thinking from the standpoint of hearing them from a stereoscopic position in front of the soundboard. At Cuthbert it sounded PERFECT! It's more the acoustics at a venue, imho, that affect the sound coming to your ears. The guy at the board can only do so much. But you can't change the physical nature of the venue.

For the greatest enjoyment of the music, it's about my positioning in the venue.

You should have heard how bad the sound was at Portland's Memorial Coliseum. It was like they had a natural tape delay bringing back every note. There was nothing they could do about it, so they made lemonaid and played off it all night. Did an impeccable Black Throated, West LA and an Amazing Scarlet Fire. I was lucky that our seats were really close.

I bet Mansfield is gonna have that problem.

Sounds good to me......If I had one wish, it would be to turn it up louder just a tick.

"And turn bob's vocals up!"

I think/hope they fixed this problem after the Best Buy shows which it was real low for but at Radio City his vocals were perfect.

Anybody else have any input on how Bobbys vocals were the rest of the tour after Radio City? ....I'm pretty sure all the shows that I heard sounded good.

my buddy and i got some information after one of the shows on the last tour from the sound guys...they are using a new system, they are just CONSTANTLY trying new shit with it, adjusting to new rooms very frequently..when they dial in, the sound is great..its hard to keep these folks from experimenting, its their thing
who else is gonna bring you, a broken arrow?
