One of my favorite Sugaree's OP is one they played in Berkley on 8-15-1971. Upbeat and fun. It hovers around the 7 minute mark so its a little longer than needed. Hope everything goes well though!

"Standing On The Moon" is our song. We played it at our ceremony. She has "A lovely view of heaven..." engraved in her wedding band, and I have "...But I'd rather be with you" engraved in mine

It's a Robbie Robertson tune and it's over the five-minute mark, but I've always loved "Broken Arrow". Phil and Friends covered it occasionally, like at this show I saw at the House of Blues in Atlantic City:

It would be a real treat to see Furthur cover it at Bethel Woods or Gathering of the Vibes — no harm in indulging in a little wishful thinking!

Another great version of this song from Convention Hall in 2001, which is one of my favorite Phil and Friends shows of all time:

first of all, its "they LOVE each other" not loved.......

second, dont fucking bore everyone with some slow song like LLR, or he was a friend....... seen it happen, super slow and awkward moment in the ceremony..... play something up beat and fun, like .. second that emotion. .... dont force a musical choice down everyones throat... most folk WILL NOT GET YOUR SUBTLE INNIES to music. keep it familiar and fun.... people want to see the young kids dance... and they want to hear love songs that they know. rant ovah

Have considered this, that's why I want to keep the songs less than 5 minutes. I am only going to pick 2 for each reception (We're having 3, in 3 different states).

Leaning towards:
1) Good Lovin (nice familiar song)
2) Dancing in the Streets or The Music Never Stopped
3) Standing on The Moon
4) Lovelight
5) Sugaree
6)...... (Iko Iko?)

I'd appreciate recommended versions of the songs. I am open to playing any year, including Furthur.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

I second the broken arrow. The grateful dead played it first in 93 I believe.

She belongs to me would be another great one for your wife to be

They Love Each Other
It will get people dancing, has that mid-tempo reggae tinged groove. It's Upbeat. Everyone can sing along to the "Lord You can see it's True" line.

That's a great Furthur version!!!!

If your going with live recordings you def want to get the sound board though. IMO
